PETERSBURG, Va. (ABP) -- In 1957, 30 years after its founding, Elm Street Baptist Church in Petersburg, Va., expressed its confidence in the future by building a new 400-seat sanctuary. But within a few years things were beginning to change for Petersburg and Elm Street. Beneath the surface, racial tensions were simmering.

FRANKLIN, Ind. (ABP) -- A former Southern Baptist pastor in central Indiana has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for molesting a 15-year-old church member in a relationship that began with him counseling the girl because she was not getting along with her mother.
