(ABP) -- "Revenge is the rage at the movies," proclaims The Wall Street Journal. Well, there's a surprise.

The WSJ notes that revenge, retribution and retaliation are served up (with heaping helpings of violence, naturally) in a trio of recent releases: "Edge of Darkness," starring Mel Gibson, "7 Days," a French-Canadian film, and "44 Inch Chest," with Ray Winstone.

(ABP) -- I have reassured myself in the six months since the death of my daughter, Maggie Lee, that although I have no idea what I will do without her, I honestly didn't know what to do with her when she first arrived, either. This gives me room to breathe, and by the grace of God, I sense I will adapt to my new life in some measure as I did before.

(ABP) -- Storied NFL quarterback Kurt Warner announced his retirement at a press conference Friday, January 29. With Bible in hand, Warner calmly and straightforwardly gave thanks to God, his family, his coaches and team owners before taking a few questions from assembled members of the press.

(ABP) -- Every pastor or counselor soon learns: Hearing from only one partner in a troubled marriage gives the listener a very distorted picture of what is going on. It’s not that the spouse unburdening his or her heart is deliberately misrepresenting the dynamics of the marriage. He or she may rightly complain about being treated unfairly or callously by the once beloved husband or wife. But what is almost always lacking in such revelations is any self-awareness of how one sometimes invites, encourages and empowers such a response in the other party in the relationship.

(ABP) -- For those who care about the current state of American democracy, last week was both fascinating and deeply troubling. For Christians who seek to contribute to “the peace of the city” in which God has placed us, we have an obligation to do what we can to encourage the healthy functioning of our political institutions before it is too late.
