Baylor student, daughter of provost of Samford, killed in car accident Print E-mail

WACO, Texas (ABP) -- Caitlin Creed, 19-year-old daughter of the provost of Samford University, died in a car crash April 30 on her way to visit her grandparents in Tyler, Texas.

Creed, a freshman student at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, is the daughter of Brad and Kathy Creed of Homewood, Ala. Brad Creed is provost of Samford in Birmingham, Ala. Both Baylor and Samford are Baptist-affiliated colleges.

Caitlin Creed, a social work major, reportedly was killed when her pickup truck veered into incoming traffic around 9:30 p.m. near Palestine, Texas.

A funeral is planned for May 4 at Central Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Texas.

Before becoming provost, Brad Creed served eight years as associate dean, dean and professor of Christian history at Baylor's George W. Truett Theological Seminary.
