| What
is RSS/Syndication?
RSS stands for “Really Simple
Syndication.” It is a standard format that websites use to describe
the articles or other information available on their sites to other
Web sites or computer programs. RSS is frequently used by weblogs (so
called blogs) to list the most recent postings on other websites.
Does Associated Baptist
Press have an RSS feed?
Yes. The orange icon above
is a link to our RSS feed. Currently the feed includes the 5 most recent news
articles in our site’s archive.
So, how do I use ABP’s
RSS as an individual?
Individuals can use the RSS
feed to find out when new news articles have been posted to ABP’s
web site without having to go to our home page. Typically, you will
install a program called a "news reader" or a "feed reader"
on your computer. There are many different readers available; most are stand-alone
programs, but some work as an add-in to your e-mail client or Web browser.
You then "subscribe" to the feed by giving your reader the
address of the RSS feed mentioned above.
How do I use ABP’s RSS
for my church or organizational website?
Churches and other organizations
can use the syndication feed to feature ABP's news headlines on your
website. This can help keep your members or supporters informed about
what’s going on in the world while they’re visiting your site.
You may need a small amount
of custom programming to include the RSS feed on your site. Unfortunately,
because websites are based on so many different types of operating systems
and programming languages, ABP is not able to provide individualized
programming assistance.
What is available to me
here?
Below are options for individuals
and organizations to use in alerting you and your readers/members/supporters
to ABP headlines as they are published:
