The search for a Missouri Baptist lobbyist’s wife continues a month after she disappeared without a trace from her home on a 270-acre family farm an hour south of St. Louis.

messer-missing-posterLynn Messer, 52, was reported missing the morning of July 8. Her husband, Kerry Messer, a lobbyist who represents conservative groups including the Missouri Baptist Convention at the state capitol, called police after reportedly waking up and being unable to find her at their home near Bloomsdale, Mo., in Ste. Genevieve County.

Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff Gary Stolzer told the Daily Journal in Park Hills, Mo., that his office continues to investigate leads as tips come in on a hotline, while volunteers have taken over the job of searching woodlands, homes, outbuildings and properties near the Messer home.

Kerry Messer posted a personal message to his wife of 34 years Aug. 6 on a “Find Lynn Messer” Facebook page in hopes that it might somehow reach her, surmising that her disappearance might have something to do with a reaction to pain medication prescribed for her due to a broken toe.

“All we know is that the pain pills your doctor prescribed can have a severe reaction, causing you to be totally confused,” Messer wrote. “We fear that you may not even know for sure who you are. This confusion can lead you to be fearful of people around you and cause you not to trust anyone. It can also lead you to go places without understanding why you are there.”

On Tuesday, Aug. 5, volunteers were asked to print and take missing person flyers for Lynn Messer to their polling places as they went to vote during Missouri’s primary election. While state law forbids electioneering within 25 feet of a voting location, supporters said the ban does not apply to non-political materials like the poster.

Anyone with any information regarding the disappearance of Lynn Messer is asked to contact the Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff’s Department’s tip line at 573.883.5820, ext. 27463.
