STAFF CHANGES

ORDINATIONS

Angela Barker Jackson, to be ordained to ministry on May 18 by Elliott Avenue Baptist Church, Springfield, Ill.

Jeremy Roden, ordained to ministry on March 9 by Trinity Baptist Church, Bedford, Va., where he serves as youth pastor.

David Ward, ordained to ministry on May 7 by First Baptist Church, Blowing Rock, N.C. He and his wife, Dawn, are founders of Son’s Light Ministry, a regional outreach to youth and university students.

Daniel Willson, ordained to ministry on May 4 by First Baptist Church, Martinsville, Va., where he serves as assistant pastor for family ministry and education.

DEATHS

Clarence Bynum Adams, 81, died April 30 in Charlotte, N.C. An executive for 43 years with First Union National Bank, Adams was a long-time member of Providence Baptist Church in Charlotte and active in the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of North Carolina, serving on the CBFNC Endowment Board. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; son, George; daughter, Susan A. McConnell; and six grandchildren.

Joe R. Babb, 84, died April 25 in Asheville, N.C. He had served as pastor of Wayside Baptist Mission, Startex, S.C.; Cameron (N.C.) Baptist Church; Morningside Baptist Church, Asheville; and North Henderson (N.C.) Baptist Church. He was the former director of missions for the Cullom and Tennessee River Cheoah Baptist associations. Active in the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of North Carolina, he led the “First Monday” gatherings in the western part of the state. He is survived by his wife, Mildred; three sons, Richard, Donald and Timothy Babb; and six grandchildren.

Frank Lowe, 79, died April 26 in Greenville, N.C. He was academic dean at Chowan College (now University) in Murfreesboro, N.C., from 1968 to 2001. In addition to his administrative role at Chowan, he served as professor of religion from 1964 until his retirement in 2001. After retirement he continued to serve as an adjunct professor in the department of religion and philosophy until 2013. He served numerous churches as supply pastor and was an active member of Murfreesboro Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Peggy; daughter, Lori Lynn Lowe; and son, Greg Franklin Lowe.
