Alban: A death and a resurrection

It’s time for those who desire to help congregations to reconceptualize their ministry.

When you move past theory, ministry is often an issue of how we implement what we believe, and at that point, we are in a constant quest for good practices and methodologies. Healthy clergy are always on the lookout for best practices that breath life into their ministry and thus their place of service.

Despite our illusions, none of us is capable of living the life God has called us to alone.  We all need someone, some group, some community to help us fulfill God’s dream for our life. We may be extraordinarily gifted, wealthy, wise, self-sufficient and independent, but in the end, it will not be enough.

VITAL SIGNS: Dreaming with God

I’ve made a transition in recent years in the way I think and talk about God’s will. For many people, the will of God is a mysterious, elusive and frustrating concept. VITAL SIGNS: Recalculating

It comes in a variety of accents. It can be a man’s voice or a woman’s (my favorite is the female Australian). It can break your heart or serve as a warning. It will mock you. It will scold you. When I am behind the wheel, it makes me cringe. If you have a GPS in your vehicle, you know the word “recalculating.”
