Bluefield College cottages renovated

BLUEFIELD -- More than 100 members of Baptist churches from across Virginia and Tennessee spent part of their summer on the campus of Bluefield College, joining staff in renovated cottages.

This leader from the class of 1957 had a vision to restore married student housing facilities on the college campus, and with his own passion and energy inspired others to join in the massive renovation project.

BLUEFIELD -- Bluefield College will open the doors of East River Hall, its first new residence hall in more than 30 years, with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house Aug. 7 at 11:30 a.m. With just more than a month to go before the start of a new academic year, workers are putting the finishing touches on the $4.3 million structure that will house 100 students.

BLUEFIELD -- More than 200 youth from Baptist churches across Virginia swarmed the Bluefield College campus June 28-July 4 to make an "impact" on Greater Bluefield through service projects in the community. On the Bluefield campus as part of Impact Virginia, the teens spent the early mornings and evenings each day in devotion and worship in BC’s Harman Chapel, but the bulk of their daily time in the community, renovating 12 homes in Mercer (W. Va.) and Tazewell (Va.) counties.
